The fight continues
The results of this election remind us that progress is never guaranteed — it must be fought for. At NGP VAN, we stand proud of the role we played in helping campaigns achieve historic gains, but we also feel the weight of the challenges ahead. This cycle underscored both the resilience of our movement and the urgency of the work still to come. Through every victory and every setback, you — our partners in the progressive movement — have shown the grit and resolve that will carry us forward in the critical fights ahead.
While the losses we faced on Election Day were deeply felt, we also celebrated historic victories that pushed our movement forward. Lisa Blunt Rochester and Angela Alsobrooks became the first Black women to represent Delaware and Maryland in the U.S. Senate, doubling the total number of Black women elected to serve in the Senate. Andy Kim became the first Korean American elected to the Senate from New Jersey, and Sarah McBride’s election made history as the first transgender person elected to serve in Congress.
Your efforts also helped defend critical Democratic seats in the House and Senate, defying predictions and polls. While we faced the loss of both chambers, the margins were narrower than many anticipated, thanks to your relentless organizing and turnout efforts. These hard-fought wins preserved key leaders who championed progress and kept the fight alive for the battles ahead.
State-level wins in this cycle demonstrated the deep resilience of our movement, even amidst a challenging landscape. Josh Stein’s election as governor of North Carolina and the breaking of the GOP supermajority in the State House highlighted the power of grassroots organizing. In Pennsylvania, Democrats successfully defended their House majority once again, while voters passed ballot measures enshrining abortion rights in several states, increasing the minimum wage in Missouri and Alaska, and expanding voting rights in Connecticut. Together, these victories reaffirm the power of organizing and the enduring fight for justice, equity, and progress.
To every organizer who walked mile after mile to knock doors, to every volunteer who made calls until your voice grew hoarse, to every candidate who gave everything to fight for our shared values: we see you, we appreciate you, we thank you.
Because of your determination and tireless efforts, in this cycle we saw over 1.9 billion contact attempts and over $15 billion raised and tracked through our systems. Canvassers knocked on over 270 million doors with MiniVAN users logging nearly 90% of them.
Mobilize enabled over 3.8 million supporters to take more than 12 million actions for Democratic and progressive campaigns and causes all across the country. The platform’s built-in features and automations drove over 57% of those actions — driving even greater progress for our movement. Notably, 72% of those who signed up for an event or action through Mobilize this cycle engaged with the platform for the first time.
ActionKit played a pivotal role in powering critical fundraising and engagement efforts for some of the largest Democratic and progressive campaigns and committees. Together, these organizations generated nearly 75 million contributions and drove over 175 million actions through ActionKit alone — building even more momentum for our movement.
And in October, when MiniVAN traffic reached an all-time high over three consecutive weekends, we continued to deliver on our platforms when it mattered most. Over GOTV Weekend, over 230,000 canvassers knocked on 8.1 million doors — with 14.5 million voters canvassed using MiniVAN.
As we look ahead, we’re ready to fight like hell alongside all of you. The work begins now to win critical seats and chambers in 2025 (looking at you Virginia and New Jersey!) and to set us up to take back the House and Senate, protect and flip more state legislative chambers, and win up and down the ballot in 2026.
